April 2002
Access Imagery Inc. OREM, Utah, April 8, 2002 - Access Imagery Inc. is a new company specializing in digitizing library materials and creating associated metadata. The company is an outgrowth of experience gained by MARC Link Retrospective Conversion in digitizing and linking library catalog materials to MARC records. Scott Wheelhouse, creator of the scanning, image handling, and cataloging processes used at MARC Link, is the force behind the technology and processes at Access Imagery. John Merrill, chairman of MARC Link, is president. Services include digitizing large format items, manuscripts, slides/transparencies, photos, and text - including very accurate OCR text file conversions. On-site scanning of materials is available, and files can be formatted for both access and preservation purposes.

Libraries that have experimented with digitizing materials for access or preservation purposes know how complex and expensive the process is, particularly for those with academic and art resource collections. Specialized equipment is required and considerable time must be allocated for training and production. Outsourcing digitizing and metadata creation to Access Imagery eliminates these constraints. Access Imagery invests in the latest equipment and tools, and their staff is well trained and focused on providing excellent service. Overall project cost is much lower using Access Imagery because of specialized processes that increase productivity. The high cost of equipment and training is spread among many projects.

Previously known as Retro Link Associates, MARC Link has been offering high-quality retrospective conversion, cataloging and database services for sixteen years. With this move, MARC Link is committed to continuing to offer these services for the foreseeable future.

Access Imagery Inc. headquarters are at 1180 South 800 East, Orem, Utah 84097, phone (800) 687-1265, fax (801) 356-8220. We will be exhibiting at ALA in Atlanta. Contact: Access Imagery, John Merrill, (801) 356-1852 ext. 21.

March 2002
New Location for MARC Link PROVO, Utah, March 5, 2002 - MARC Link Corp. announces its move on March 8, 2002, to a new location in Orem, Utah. After 15 years in its present location in downtown Provo, except for two years in the Provo River Woods business park while the company was part of epixtech (formerly Dynix, then Ameritech Library Services), MARC Link will have its own building for the first time. As the only company in the building, and having all operations on one floor, workflow will be smoother and more efficient. The 10-year-old brick building, formerly an auto insurance claims office, was specifically designed and renovated for MARC Link.

The new offices are conveniently located in the center of Utah county near the University Mall and other businesses. It is geographically central for most employees, with convenient access to public transportation, and roughly halfway between Brigham Young University and Utah Valley State College.
