October 2005

  • Another busy month for Backstage Library Works including digitization for Ohio State University, Authority Control for New Mexico Highlands, Catloging for the American Psychological Association, and Retrospective Conversion for the Valley Forge National Historic Park.

September 2005

  • Backstage Library Works welcomes two new faces to our sales staff. Shelley McArthur and Lynn Gardner.

    New projects this month include digitization for the Hastings Public Library, and authority control for Big Bend Community College and Irving Public Library .

 

August 2005

  • Once again, our blinky stars were an international sensation at the IFLA convention in Oslo, Norwary. For all those that came by our booth, thank you for your interest in our company.

  • Backstage Library Works exhibited at the Society of American Archivist convention in New Orleans. It was a great time and thanks to all those who came by to say hello.
  • New projects this month include digitization for the Hastings Public Library, and authority control for Big Bend Community College and Irving Public Library .

 

July 2005

  • Backstage Library Works is saying goodbye to Kjerste Christensen, our scanning project manager, who will be leaving us to attend library school in August. Julianne Smith will be stepping in to take her place .

  • New projects this month include digitization for the Juilliard School, cataloging for the University of Washington, and authority control for Utica College.

June 2005

  • Thanks to all of you who came to say hello at ALA in Chicago. We handed out 3,000 of our world famous blinky stars and spread the word about how we can help your library run more efficiently. Backstage Library Works also hosted our second Authority Control user group meeting and breakfast and had a great turn-out. We'll do it again next ALA. More info about this last event can be seen here.
  • We just returned from SLA in Toronto. We gave out 2,000 blinky stars and we spread the word about how Backstage Library Works can do all the things in your library you don't want to do, or don't have time to do, like cataloging and digitizing you books, documents, photos, or anything else to which you would like access.

May 2005

  • New projects this month for Backstage Library Works include a large slide scanning project for the Cleveland Musuem of Art, cataloging for the J Paul Getty Museum and a new Authority Control project for Manatee County.
  • Our Authority Control team has hired a new project manager and we are pleased to announce that Judy Archer, a long time employee of Backstage Library Works, has accepted the new position.
  • Backstage Library Works has just returned from the Metro conference in New York City and the Nelinet Conference in Worcester, MA. Thanks to all the people who came to say hello.

April 2005

  • Backstage Library Works has returned from the ACRL convention, had a great time, and was pleased to be a part of it. Thanks to all those that came by our booth.
  • The Library + Information show is coming up in England , April 20-21st and Backstage Library Works will be there. Can't wait.
  • Backstage Library Works is pleased to announce a new Head of Technical Services, Nate Cothran.  Nate has worked in the Technical Services Department at Backstage, particularly with Marcadia projects, for several years.  Nate has broad experience with the company, and in addition to his technical work he has worked with our library clients as a Project Manager and a MARS Authority Control Analyst.  We are pleased to have his experience and skill as our technical services manager.
  • If you are a member of Palinet, we hope to see you in Grantsville Pennsylvania at the Palinet Vendor Day on April 27th.

  • October 14 - Backstage Library Works is pleased to announce that we have taken over management of the MARS service from OCLC. You can read the press release by clicking here. To current MARS patrons, we welcome you to our family of clients, and we look forward to developing a healthy business relationship with you in the coming years.   • August 30th - Backstage Library Works exhibited in Buenos Aries, Argentina at IFLA, the World Library and Information Congress. The convention took place from August 23rd - August 27th. It was a great success and we gave away over 2,000 of our world famous Blinky Stars. You can see pictures from the convention by clicking here.

  • Sirsi Corp. has recently added Backstage Library Works as a partner with their Digital Heritage Room.   ...more.
  • Backstage Library Works exhibited at the Society of American Archivists convention in Boston on August 6th at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. Word on the street is that it was "No ordinary tea party".

June 2004

  • June 30th - We just returned from ALA and would like to thank all of the people who came to our booth to pick up one of our world famous "blinky stars" and to get some information about how we can help you run your library in a smoother fashion.   • The Public Library Association Conference drew record-breaking attendance with almost 8700 library staff, exhibitors, authors and guests attending. It was a very enjoyable and informative show for Backstage and we were glad to be a part of such an outstanding event.

January 2004

  • Backstage Library Works made it's debut with the new company name at the American Library Association Midwinter Conference, January 9-12, 2004 in San Diego, California. We had a new booth, a new name, and a fun "blinky star" giveaway. We got to speak to numerous librarians and vendors from around the world. It was a fun and successful show for Backstage.
