Backstage Library Works provides retrospective conversion and cataloging services in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Yiddish, Arabic, Persian, and Greek. Except for Greek records, Backstage Library Works uses the RLG Union Catalog for non-Roman conversion. Data is provided for RLG member and non-member libraries in both transliterated and vernacular characters according to the level of service requested.

Backstage Library Works provides records in MARC21 format, UKMARC, UNIMARC, or any other format the library needs. In addition, we can perform conversions between MARC formats.

Vernacular records are created in the RLG Union Catalog using the Library of Congress's accepted character input and Romanization practices. Records are then extracted and provided to the library for loading on its local automation system. RLG member libraries may also have their holdings added to the RLG Union Catalog.
